2011 Creative Art Winter Camp Schedule & Workshop Details

Yee Studio is glad to announce our first Creative Art Winter Camp to all of you! The winter camp will run from Monday December 19 – Friday December 23, 9 am – 4 pm daily. Ten different themes for the 5 days of camp! Two themes per day. You can sign up for just one workshop (half-day), one day (2 workshops) or all 5 days.

Fee Schedule:
$50 per workshop (half-day, 9am – noon or 1-4pm), $90 per day (9am – 4pm)
$240 – 5 Days, Morning or Afternoon Half Day
$435 – 5 Full Days
Morning and afternoon Extended Care available for additional charges.

Miniature Clay Art

December 19, 2011 Monday 9am – noon

For the dessert lovers! High Tea!
In this 3-hour workshop, you will have lots of fun making a tray of desserts – colorful macaroons, fruit tarts, chocolate mouse cakes etc… You will learn how to mix clay with colors, use mold to make the macaroon pieces and hand-make from scratch many other cake pieces: Macaroon, Fruit tart, Chocolate cake, etc. All materials and tools are included to use during class. You just have to bring your creative hands. This is a great way to practice your fine motor skills. You can bring home a beautiful high tea tray filled with sweets!

Creative Knitting

December 19, 2011 Monday 1 – 4pm

Great Christmas gift for your mom, grandma or friends!
In this workshop, you will learn all the basics of knitting (cast on, knit, purl, cast off, count stitches and rows). For beginners, we will guide you to make 1-2 knitted bracelets. For intermediate students, we will work with you to select an appropriate project of your choice – cowl, wrist warmers or small accessories – such as magic scrubber etc. Each student will bring home a pair of cute knitting needles (“I love knitting”) and a ball of yarn. Also, you can select and purchase yarn from us with 10% discount on the workshop day.

Calendar Making

December 20, 2011 Tuesday 9am – noon

Get prepared for your new year with your personalized Calendar!
Use your creativity, your own photos and favorite quotes to create your one-of-a-kind calendar for you to use in Year 2012. Also, you can include individualized annotations, drawings and photos to mark down all your special events in the coming year.

In this workshop, we will provide a blank calendar, decorative papers and embellishments for you to start with. Please bring photos if you want to include photos in your calendar. We could also help you scan or print if necessary for an additional fee of $10 (up to 30 photos/drawings). Please provide those to us at least 1 week in advance.

Perler Beading

December 20, 2011 Tuesday 1 – 4pm

More ornaments for your Christmas Trees!
Perlers are small plastic beads that can be placed on a peg board to create both simple and elaborate designs with color and pattern. The Perlers are melted together with an iron. Children of any age (5 or above) enjoy this art and can play for hours. During this 3-hour workshop, each child will work on his/her own bead art project to take home. There are many themes or patterns to choose from: Christmas, animal, plane, etc.

Design & Paint Tee

December 21, 2011 Wednesday 9am – noon

Wear your creativity! A very meaningful and joyful gift for this holiday season!
In this workshop, Teacher Neha will teach you how to add your personal touch to a T-shirt with a customized message. You can pick your own theme, such as fire truck, choo-choo train, bicycle, flower, cupcakes, rockets, etc. Teacher Neha will bring stencils, paints, t-shirts and all the necessary tools for you to use during the workshop. You just have to bring your creative hands and ideas! Note: the T-shirt will take 3-4 hours to dry. Therefore, it will not be available to take home immediately after the workshop (at noon). Please plan to stop by our studio at the end of the day (after 4pm or the next day) to pickup the T-shirt.

Stamping/Stenciling

December 21, 2011 Wednesday 1 – 4pm

Printing is an ancient art believed to have first been developed in China.
Printing is the process of reproducing copies of an original artwork. Pattern recognition and manipulation are basic skills in math and reading readiness, as well as visual design. In this workshop, you will learn the basic technique of stamping with objects and stenciling in a multi-step exercise. Materials are supplied and include: drawing paper, cardstock paper, cork, sponge, tempura paint, color wheel, for you to use during the workshop.

All you need is an uninhibited imagination and an enthusiastic willingness to explore various concepts of printing. This class serves as a wonderful introduction to patterns for children of all ages.

Great Gifts for Moms! Jewelry Making is not just for girls, boys can do this too – to make gift for mom!
In this 3-hour workshop, you will have fun making some jewelry using Swarovski crystals and Japanese seed beads. You can either make 2 bracelets or one Hello Kitty pendant*.
* Prerequisite for Hello Kitty pendant: only applicable for students who had previously taken the bracelet workshop.

Cream Clay Art

December 22, 2011 Thursday 1 – 4pm

Cream Clay Art is the most fun and popular art nowadays! Fun for boys and girls!
In this workshop, you can turn a plain round musical base, a picture frame or a jewelry box into a pretty cream clay art. The finished item will be a very practical item to use – but yet stylish and beautiful! Or if you can choose to make charms, you can do so too. All materials and tools are included for you to use during the workshop. You can select your decorative sprinkles, fruits or cabochons and the type of base.
Choices of what you can make at this workshop:

  • ONE big item: musical base, picture frame, jewelry box, or,
  • TWO slices of cake, or
  • FOUR pieces of small items: cupcake, donut or macaroons.

Scrapbooking

December 23, 2011 Friday 9am – noon

Great Christmas gift for Grandparents!
Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal memories in the form of a custom-made album or calendar. Traditional memorabilia include photographs, printed media, and artwork. Scrapbook albums are usually ornamented and commonly contain individualized annotations.

In this workshop, you will create a 10 page scrapbook your own thematic choice. Some suggested themes include: me, family, pets, vacations, holidays. You can either bring your own photos (35 mm or digital prints) or request us to print them for you for an additional fee of $10 (up to 30 photos). Please provide those to us at least 1 week in advance.

Calligraphy

Cancelled – will offer in future

Calligraphy is a word derived from the Greek meaning “beautiful writing”.
Calligraphy is a type of visual art and frequently called the art of fancy lettering. Nowadays, a contemporary definition of calligraphy is “the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner”. Modern calligraphy continues to flourish in the forms of wedding and event invitations, font design/typography, original hand-lettered logo design, religious art, announcements/graphic design/commissioned calligraphic art, cut stone inscriptions and memorial documents, birth and death certificates, maps, and other works involving writing. Some of the finest works of modern calligraphy are charters and letters patent issued by monarchs and officers of state in various countries.

In this workshop, you will learn to write a variation of the Uncial calligraphy style, one of the oldest calligraphy styles in the world. You will use a Sanford Calligraphy Pen to practice the stroke order and perfect your alphabet. Materials are supplied and include: Sanford Calligraphic Pen & paper for you to use during the workshop.

All you need is a positive attitude and a little perseverance. This is a great way to practice your fine motor skills and master an ancient art at the same time!
